John Crabtree Music
By: Molli Shaw
Nashville Recording Artist John Crabtree will be performing his collection of new songs along with special guest McKenna Roe at the Southern Ohio Opry located at 4459 Henley Deemer Rd. McDermott, Ohio. Doors will open at 6:00p.m. and the show will begin shortly after, at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday May 9.
John was raised by a gospel singer, his father, and grew up on southern country music and the bible. It wasn’t until his early 20’s that his love for writing and performing music was discovered. The 47 year old has dedicated his last 26 years to the pursuit of happiness that also comes with composing and sharing his music. Many famous artists ranging from Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings and Elvis have influenced him. “We owe it to the fans that have supported country music for the last fifty years and country music wouldn’t be where it is today without these fans.”
Asking John about his experience since it all began; he described it as a whirlwind. “As soon as you step through it, its 100mph, 100 different ways and I still can’t wrap my head around it. There is no way I could make these decisions by myself. You have to be able to trust someone.”
After twenty plus years of entertaining, John took a few years off to re-focus and start a family with his high school sweetheart. He then received a phone call from a long time friend/ legendary manager Ken Riley asking if he was ready to get back at it. On March 21, John signed with Century II Records where his life changed dramatically. He quotes, “ This is going to be an amazing ride.”
Many musicians today have a hard time when it comes to balancing their family life with their music, not John. I asked John how he saw himself balancing his music life vs. his family. “I would walk away from all of this if I didn’t have my wife, Kelly’s support. We have a game plan and when its all said and done, my wife and kids is all that matters, everything else is just stuff,” quotes John.
John Crabtree’s music is slowly taking off. He is bringing classical country music back. ,John’s original single titled, “The Man” is being released in May of 2015. The scheduled release will hit thousands of radio stations all over the world, and will also be available everywhere from iTunes and Amazon.
